UKAEA-Dounreay Silos

SWA have been commissioned by UKAEA to undertake a number of option studies for the provision of a waste retrieval facility at Dounreay. The study will examine a number of schemes comprising of reinforced concrete process cells straddling the existing Silo structure, including the building envelope and EOT cranage.

Integration with various mechanical robotic systems for waste retrieval, handling and size reduction is an essential element of the study requiring close coordination with the multi-discipline project team.

The various schemes will be subject to constant evaluation in order to define functional requirements and cost effective solutions leading to a Value Engineering Study to select the optimum scheme(s) for detailed development.
