UKAEA Harwell Pluto Demolition Option Studies
The Pluto Materials Testing Facility (B775) ceased operations in March 1990 after approximately 30 years of operational life.
It was finally decommissioned in 1995 and is currently in a long term Care and Maintenance regime.
It is the intention of UKAEA to demolish the associated ancillary buildings leaving the general area of the Pluto site landscaped.
Sanderson Watts Associates have been commissioned by UKAEA to undertake this option study to provide recommendations for a number of sequential demolition solutions and a strategy covering all aspects of the demolition process, incorporating best practice safety requirements for site operatives and to afford maximum protection to UKAEA personnel and adjacent structures.
