Energy From Waste Plant - Grand Cayman, Caribbean

Envir Proj Efw Cayman

This project is currently in the design phase of a fast track 12 month programme to deliver a new purpose built 10000 sq m facility for handling the municipal waste generated by the capital of Grand Cayman, George Town.

The plant is of modular design which is capable of expansion to cater for volumes of Municipal Solid Waste from 50000T-250000T per annum as the waste stream on the island grows.

Using a steam based thermal treatment process the facility will size reduce MSW by up to 65% of its original volume, will provide maximum recycling capability and will ultimately generate 20 Mw of electricity.

In addition potable water will be created using reversed osmosis equipment for use in the process, with the surplus being sold to the Cayman Water Company.
