Stone Cross Park - Golbourne (Infrastucture)
This 90 acre development site is regarded of strategic importance for employment within the Wigan MBC unitary development plan. SWA are appointed as Engineering Consultants to undertake a full design service for the project from concept to completion, including environmental, transportation, highway, bridge and drainage works, ground modelling optimisation and individual unit construction. Particular problems which SWA have resolved with the Environment Agency include minimisation of intrusion within the Millingford Brook Valley, development of a contamination remediation strategy and mitigation measures to compensate for loss of open watercourses. Extensive cement/lime stabilisation was carried out beneath adopted highways and buildings which were constructed on soft glacial drift.
